A new slant on cutting angles from AngleMag
From the innovative brain of Sydney Inventor Jeff Snell comes the amazing, extremely versatile AngleMag.

This ingenious yet simple-to-use device recently won a gold medal at the prestigious 'Salon International des Inventions' in Geneva, Switzerland. The AngleMag was also awarded the AUSTRALIAN DESIGN MARK for 2003. Further, it was awarded the POWERHOUSE MUSEUM "SELECTION" for 2003.  As part of the permanent collection the AngleMag is preserved for use in future exhibitions and research.

THE ANGLEMAG CONCEPT
The AngleMag CONCEPT is simplicity in itself. It can be used to make simple or complex joints in small workpieces eg. dovetail keys and angled biscuits, to major joinery in larger cabinet making projects. Ninety percent of the joinery on the ornate cabinet appearing in this website was accomplished using the AngleMag.

The AngleMag clamps securely onto the edge of the job and uses a powerfully magnetised circular guide shoe to hold the saw at the desired angle. When the angle is cut, the adjustable guide shaft is released and rotated through 180 degrees for cutting the opposing angle. Locating grooves are machined at 90 degrees increments around the shaft and allow the guide shoe to be firmly screw-locked at the exact mirror angle for opposite cuts.

The tool allows equal ease-of-use, left or right handed, by simply reversing the direction of the guide shaft.

The unit works well with most standard saws but particularly well with the
increasingly popular types of 'pull-saws' finding favour among wood-workers.

The AngleMag "concept" is so ingenious and so precise that the Invention also applies to two more fields of endeavour, namely Orthopaedic Surgery for use in "Total Knee Replacement Surgery". In its Surgical application, it would be employed to cut and shape the distal end of the femur and the proximal end of the tibia in the preparation for receipt of articulating prosthesis. However, when developed the Surgical Instrumentation Guide System would naturally have no resemblance what so ever to its Cabinet making Cousin, The AngleMag. The third field of endeavour is Log Cabin Construction.
